Welcome! I am pleased to be a Viking because as a CHHS graduate, I feel at home in the halls of our school! I completed my post-secondary education, with distinction, at the Universities of Lethbridge (B.A.) and Alberta (B.Ed.). I am also currently a student again and am working on my Master's of Education degree in Curriculum and Assessment from the University of Lethbridge.  I have held previous teaching assignments at MHHS and with Indigenous Education and grade 7 Humanities at CHHS. For the 2020 - 2021 school year, I am teaching English Language Arts for grade 9 French Immersion students and grade 9 Humanities (9A and 9B), Foundations and Film Studies 9.

I was involved with the Tribes training for our district as a trainer, primarily with my middle school colleagues. It is a process that promotes community as well as academic achievement. The agreements of mutual respect, attentive listening, right to participate and appreciations are foundational to creating a positive learning community. If you have any questions about the Tribes process, please let me know.  I have also embraced Kagan structures in our learning community. Kagan involves incorporating strategies that promote Positive Interdependence, Individual Accountability, Equal Participation, and Simultaneous Interaction.

Students are welcome to seek assistance or to catch up on missed work during Foundations when possible and at home, especially when ill. Parents and students are also reminded to check Remind, Google Classroom and Power School for updates about student learning. To sign up for Remind, a text-based message service, invite your child to log in to Google Classroom where a digital copy of the instructions is posted.  Google Classroom is a Google App for Education (GSuite) that we are utilizing to share assignments, announcements and to collaborate. Ask your child to log in with his/her school username and password to show you what we are working on. Assignments and learning materials will be available in Google Classroom so students may access their work from any device.

For extra-curricular activities I facilitate Junior Council/ Kiwanis Builders Club with students in grades 7 to 9 with the goal of fostering school spirit and leadership in our school, while supporting initiatives for the Kiwanis. Due to restrictions we are unable to run this year so far.

Outside of school, my passions include reading, running, biking, and both fibre and visual art. As much as I love teaching, my most important "job" is being a busy but proud parent of two children who are actively involved in a variety of activities.
